Enroll Your Child

We are excited that you are considering WHEELS for your child. WHEELS serves students in grades PK–12 through a joyful, challenging, and community-centered educational experience. Below, you’ll find the steps for enrolling by grade band.

Lower Grades (PK–5) and Middle Grades (6–8)

  

To register your child, please bring the following documents to the school:

  1. Student’s birth certificate or passport
  2. Vaccination records and physical exam
  3. Proof of address, such as a utility bill (for example, Con Edison) or a lease
    1. If those are not available, we can accept a New York State ID with the home address and a mailed letter
  4. Registration forms, which will be completed at the school

If your child has a zoned elementary or middle school, NYC Public Schools advises families to contact that school directly for enrollment support. Families who need additional enrollment help can also work with a Family Welcome Center.

Upper Grades (9–12)

To join WHEELS for 9th or 10th grade:

  1. Go to MySchools
  2. Create an account
  3. Search for Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School (WHEELS)
  4. Add WHEELS to your MySchools application or waitlist

For other grades:

Families enrolling an Upper Grades student should visit their borough’s Family Welcome Center (FWC).

If the student lives in Manhattan: 123 Morningside Drive, New York, NY 10027

If the student lives in the Bronx: 1 Fordham Plaza, Bronx, NY 10458

Please bring the following documents to the Family Welcome Center:

  1. Student’s birth certificate or passport
